Hello! I'm Marjorie Oyler, the Secondary Education Gifted and Talented Specialist for BCMS, BMHS and RCHS
I am originally from the suburbs of Chicago, but spent many of my summers and winters in Colorado visiting family to ski, raft and camp. After earning my undergraduate degree in 2003, with a focus in Animal Behavior, I worked as a Marine Biologist in Alaska for three years. I started working in the field of education in 2005, while still living in Alaska, before moving back to Chicago in 2007 to pursue a Master's Degree in Urban Science Education; I attended Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago. During the summer of 2010, I moved to Colorado and decided to take some time off of teaching, while still working as a substitute for ECS; I also completed my Master's degree in Secondary Education in December of 2010. I started working full-time for Eagle County Schools in April 2011 as a middle school science teacher at EVMS and received my Gifted and Talented endorsement in 2013. In 2015, I was hired on as the Secondary Gifted and Talented Specialist for ECS working with 6th-12th graders across the entire district. In 2016 the district allocated a specialist to work with the high schoolers and in 2017, the district allocated another middle school GT Specialist. During the 2020-21 school year, I transferred to the Edwards' campus of secondary schools and continue to work with BCMS, BMHS and RCHS gifted students.
In my spare time I like to read, raft, ski, ride bicycles, camp, hike and spend time with my husband and five year-old son.
