EDGE
EDGE stands for Emotional development in Gifted Education and is the only time that students will be receiving GT services while in middle school. Students will meet with me during their tutorial time and will be pulled in large and small group settings based on their needs. During our EDGE time we will work on developing their ALPS, or ICAPS, as well as achieving their affective goals.

What is Exploratory Class?
Exploratory class is a completely optional class for GT students and is open to all advanced students who are willing to apply.
Through exploratory class students will:
-explore their own giftedness, talents and interests with the guidance of their teacher, if needed.
-identify their strengths and weaknesses and use the model to investigate their personal interests.
-set and monitor goals throughout the process using Global Readiness Skills compete in optional competitions both in and out of district
According to Riber (1996), exploratory learning is a constructivist learning theory in which students use inquiry-based learning to form an in-depth understanding of concepts that are of interest to the student.
Exploratory Learning is based on four approaches:
1.Learners can and should take control of their own learning;
2.Knowledge is rich and multidimensional;
3.Learners approach the learning task in very diverse ways; and
4.Learning comes natural and it does not have to be forced or contrived.
